Evensong is a very ancient, beautiful, and contemplative service for which the Anglican Church is well known. It is our antidote for the treadmill most of us are on in this post-modern society in which we live. The service is candlelit and the prayers and responses are chanted or sung in English. The service is also very calming.
At St. Luke’s we have this service on the 1st Wednesday of each month, at 7:00 p.m.
If you have never been to an Evensong service, but you are interested, please come. Do not worry if you do not know the chants or the songs. Just let the service enwrap you with its calming influence and listen for the still, small voice of God. In time, all the chants and the songs will become familiar. The hymns are in the hymnals located in each pew.
